For over a decade, the idea of the Seattle Seahawks facing the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl was a sore subject. After last Sunday, that memory finally shifted as Seattle avenged its controversial 2015 Super Bowl XLIX loss to New England.
The loss to the Patriots was nothing short of heartbreaking for Seattle, marking the end of what many believed was the franchise’s prime era. The 2015 loss to New England lingered for years, being the defining “what if” moment for the Seattle Seahawks and their fans. This year’s Super Bowl wasn’t just a victory, but a revenge story for Seattle. This game lit the fire and sparked the idea of a new peak era for our Seattle Seahawks.
The Seattle Seahawks were notorious for their defense this year, often referred to as “Dark Side”. This “Dark Side” team was known for giving the offensive side a hard time running their ball and pushing the boundaries of where these offensive team quarterbacks could go. This was especially seen in this past year’s Super Bowl LVI. Drake Maye (Patriots quarterback) was sacked six times in the whole SuperBowl LX game, which is unheard of traditionally for a Super Bowl game.
This year’s Super Bowl halftime show was headlined by Bad Bunny, with guest appearances by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. Bad Bunny brought out many household named celebrities, including Pedro Pascal, Cardi B, Jessica Alba, Karol G, Young Miko, and influencer Alix Earle. Bad Bunny’s halftime performance was the 4th most watched in history with around 128.2 million views. While it didn’t break Kendrick Lamar’s 2025 performance with 133.5 million views, it broke records for social media engagement, with over 4 billion views in 24 hours.
Throughout the game, Jason Myers, the Seattle Seahawks’ kicker, helped score the team’s 17 points, giving Seattle a major lead in the first half. Many would say that this year’s Super Bowl LX game was a bore, but for Seattle fans, this game was less stressful than the regular season itself.
With four minutes left in the Fourth quarter, Uchenna Nwosu, who is a linebacker for Seattle, scored the last touchdown of the night in an interception return play. This led the final score of the night to 29-13. Winning Seattle their second Super Bowl!
The Seahawk’s championship was driven by a dominant defense this season with the help of key offensive contributors. Sam Darnold led the team this season as their quarterback, being a leader on the field. Seattle’s defense was one of the league’s top units, playing a major role in its victory over New England, constantly pressing opponents and forcing turnovers throughout the season. Some key players on defense include Devon Witherspoon, Riq Woolen, Julian Love, and veteran pass rusher Leonard Williams. Seattle’s offense featured standout talent, with the ECRA himself, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, emerging as one of the team’s most explosive playmakers, and Kenneth Walker III, the Super Bowl MVP, anchoring the offense. Veteran wideouts and tight ends like Cooper Kupp and Jake Bobo were crucial for Seattle’s depth.
The Seahawks truly have the potential to become something great in the following years. Seattle’s roster is full of young talent with much more to show in the future
