All around the globe, TEDtalks unite those interested in technology, education, science, and creativity by recruiting experienced speakers to talk about a niche subject. These talks are typically 18 minutes or less in duration. This organization began in 1984 and has been growing ever since. These talks are available to attend in person but are subsequently uploaded to the internet and have subtitles available in 100+ languages, according to ted.com. Messages such as “#feminismworsethancancer” or “Black Lives Matter = Hate Group” have appeared in places such as the men’s bathroom on the first floor of the Student Affairs Building. Travis Doerge hosted a mixed martial arts (MMA) event on campus.The event was called Redemption 12 cage fights. Doerge has been into MMA fighting for about 26 years where he started out as a kickboxer. “When I was kickboxing, I turned professional in 1999 and quickly moved up the ranks,” Doerge says. “And before switching to MMA fighting, I was ranked 18th in the world.”Not only does Doerge have his own gym that he operates, but he also has merchandise such as shirts related to fighting. Eric Burghard, 39, is the artist spotlight for this issue. Burghard is originally from New York and moved to Washington state in 1992. After moving, he attended and graduated from Auburn Senior High School where he discovered his love for art.In 2005 Eric started attending Green River College where he pursued “a civil engineer type careers”, but he ended up being dissatisfied with it and chose to seek other career paths. Despite finishing just 1-13 in the 2017-18 season, the Gator Women’s Basketball team had their fair share of solid contributors to the team overall.The Women’s hoops squad exhibited solid contributions from two of their biggest stars this season, particularly from Ariana Dougall, a sophomore guard, and Dayna-Joy Calubaquib, the second-leading scorer on the Gator Women’s Basketball team. Dougall, who was arguably the team’s go-to option on the offensive side of the ball, finished with averages of 15.3 points for the 2017-18 basketball season. The much anticipated ‘Black Panther’ didn’t disappoint and got people into the spirit of the movie. People were caught up in the “Wakanda” spirit as crowds of moviegoers cheered and barked upon exiting the cinema. The movie had created an ebullient vibe that interested everyone. Green River College has been considering the idea of uniting all tutoring services under one roof. The science, English, and math tutoring centers have always been separated. There are some science tutors within the Holman Library Tutoring and Resource Center; the Cedar hall building specializes in math tutoring; the Rutkowski Learning Center has English tutoring. The locations of Cedar Hall and the Rutkowski Learning Center are on opposite sides of the campus, so if a student needs help in all of these subjects, then they would have to walk tirelessly from one building to another. In order to stop mass shootings in America, lawmakers need to start a public conversation with the American people. In Parkland, FL on Feb. 14, there was a school shooting with a death toll of 17 students and staff. Many authoritative voices are giving their condolences in light of these horrific events.
